I enjoy all kinds of music and even though I have been playing for years am still a beginner. A long time ago someone showed me how to make bar cords which are basically a very simple chord structure using your index finger, ring finger and pinkie finger. It was really painful at first but it took the guess work out of changing fingering positions, you just use the same shape and move it all over the neck. The first song I learned was 'Hey Joe' by Jimi Hendrix but then started playing punk rock songs by bands like Blink 182 and Social Distortion. One of my favorite songs to play is 'Reach for the Sky' by Social Distortion. It has an extremely simple bar chord structure and also incorporates a very simple solo that you can pick up in about 5 minutes. The next thing is get a 'Little Big Muff' distortion pedal. It adds as little or as much distortion as you please and is good for anything from classic rock or southern blues all the way through to Metallica and punk. After you get the bar chord down, learn the open chord versions of G, C, and D with the occasional A minor thrown in and you can play almost any song ever written. Good luck!!

Well, songs like
'You Really Got Me' are easy with owerchords.
Or 'Wild Thing'.
Then there's Iron Man, as people have said already. That's easy.
Then ther's the song everyone insists on learning first, which is Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin.
The intro to that song isn't hard.
I reccomend you buy guitar magazines, certain ones have a lot of helpful things for beginers and show you how to play some songs.

Korn "Blind" is easy all the way through. Don't listen to these peeps that are telling you smoke on the water and iron man cause they think the question is "what is an easy riff to play" those solos can be impossible for a beginner. Blind is simplistic in nature and it rocks! "Nothing" from Anthrax is another fun one to just jam along with and the solo is very slow and easy to "finger out."
