Would you still use this turkey?
My sister bought a turkey 3 months ago and the expiration date is 12/31/2012. She wants to know if it would still be good to cook for Thanksgiving Dinner or not. I told her I would not use it because it has already been frozen for about a year. What do you think?
@ royS...there is no reason to be rude. Of course I know what freezing is for....but not all foods stay good even when frozen!
@ Common Sense...the meat guy at her store told her that they most likely had been frozen for 3 to four months. That would mean it would be at least 9 or 10 months old. by the time she cooks it.
@royS...That make 2 of us. I know a lot about freezing foods. I grew up in a time where you owned a deep freezer and you bought meat off the farmer next door. In today's world things are a lot different where food safety is concerned. I have had many things I have bought frozen that turned out to be bad later on when I started cooking it.
