Diabetes ( Blood Sugar)?

Question

Hi friends. I wanted to ask something about blood sugar. Sadly my mom is a patient of diabetes and has good really high blood sugar. It is diabetes type 1. She literally lives on insulin. Recently the condition is getting worse. Her feet are swollen and she has pain in her legs which makes it difficult for her to walk. I have tried taking her to the doctors here but all they say is that she needs insulin. Is that true? How come there is no solution for her swollen feet? I fear if this gets worse she might need her feet cut off which I am sure no child would want for his/her mom. Please advise me on this as my country is not developed enough to find out a solution for this. Thanks.

Cammie, sadly we don't have endocrinologist in our country :( Also, the swollen feet, which ever the cause may be, what worries me is that no one has been able to find a cure :(

Reducing her need for insulin will require some dietary changes and, probably most of all, some regular exercise. Yes, type 1s need exercise too. There's a really good book called "Practical Paleo" by Diane Sanfilippo that explains how diet and exercise can reduce insulin requirements significantly.

Is Mom working with a diabetes team ? 
She needs an endocrinologist, a dietitian and a diabetes educator.
He swollen feet may be a sign of high blood sugar.
You say "has good really high blood sugar " . I wish you would have included #'s for us to see.
She may have a heart problem that is causing the swollen feet.
She needs a complete physical by a wonderful doctor who knows how to work with people with diabetes.
