Question about NFL Overtime Rules?

Quick question. Just want to make sure. Lets say in OT the Patriots score a field goal on their first possession. The Steelers then have a chance to score at least a field goal to keep the game going or to win on a TD. I got that.

If the Steelers were to get a field goal just like the Pats and the Pats get the ball back, does this now mean that the first team to score would win? I assume it is b/c this is not college football rules. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks

No, the teams can go back and forth with field goals until one scores a touchdown or one does not score. Confusing new rules but good question.

If the Pats had scored a TD or given up a safety on their first possession the game would have ended.

If the Jets had replied to the Pats FG with a TD the game would have ended.

If the Jets had replied to the Pats FG with a FG then the OT would have continued sudden death.
