My concern is with Identity Politics, and who (if anyone) benefits from it in the long run.
When you take the ideology and due diligence out of the electoral process, isn't what you're left with more an exercise in sociology than politics?

Yeah, like it or not we have a bunch of people that will vote for the sex of a candidate or sexual peferance,the race of a candidate, the religion or lack of, who they know, what they get out of the candidate as far as social programs, tax breaks, tax increases. Just like Russia reported, Obama was elected by uninformed people, as if we didn't know that. But having said that we all have one vote(hopefully) and you better know what your man stands for.

People vote the way they do for lots of reasons. The beauty of an electoral system is that people are free to pick their own reasons. And there's no way to change that.
