Why did the movie "The Watch" do so poorly?

I must be crazy, but I haven't laughed that hard watching a movie in a long time.  I read reviews of people literally walking out of the theater because it was too raunchy.  First off, it's rated R and second off it's not even close to be raunchy as some other titles I've seen out there.  I'm wondering what demographic this movie appealed to go see it and walk out on it.

I don't understand it either, it was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Richard Ayoade, with a gun, shooting Alien; it has Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Johan Hill...what more do people want??
