Best thing to do is ask the instuctor.
If it is a class that requires a handgun, and you let the instructor know about it, 99% of them will be able to give you a handgun to borrow for class purposes.
Let's say it is a class where you need a handgun...it's not like you are going to walk in and pull a handgun out of your waistband and plunk it on the table in front of you.
You are going to have some sort of range bag or duffle bag. Inside that bag will be your cleaning kit, a box (or more) of ammo, safety glasses, ear plugs, and a gun case. In side the gun case is the gun.
It would be totally normal for a person who is taking a handgun safety class where you don't need a gun for the class, to bring a gun because they plan on going to the gun range right after class and applying the lessons they learned.
after all, a very common place for gun safety classes to be held are in a dedicated classroom/conference room of a gun range.

Depends on the class type and instructor.
Some may be optional. Some may be required. Some may be "OH HELL NO."
When in doubt, ask the instructor when you register, well before you go.
If they do allow you to bring it, follow the instructions by the instructor. They will have their best practices for their students.

Yes but not always I suggest you talk to the class instructor

It would depend upon the class.

Most places, you need the class to get the license, so no.
