We had a bag of groceries and some laundry soap spilled on my Jello box and some spilled onto the package inside. Do you think it is still safe to make it and eat it? As I am making it for a party next week? The package smells a little like soap.

Throw it out and get new jello. You can never be too careful. Next time make sure your food and non food (chemicals) are bagged seperatly.

It's better safe than sorry, buy some more jello for the party, you don't want to end up with a stomach ache

it would not be a safe bet to take... it may be fine, but you wouldn't want your guests to suffer severe diarrhea because of it.
At least jello is really cheap...
