Is the use of firearms part of your self-defense plan/training?

They're not, for me, as I don't live in circumstances that make firearms a necessity. But for those who train to use firearms along with your classical martial art skills, how do you incorporate that training? How often do you train? What weapon(s) do you own/use? How do you see the role of firearms in your self-defense preparation?

I included firearms defense in my school for adult brown and black-belts for several reasons. I had several law enforcement officers and corrections officers in my classes. They as well as others who had a real chance of coming into contact with those that might carry and misuse a firearm because of the city they lived in was why this training was included. My own training on the federal side with firearms and personal experiences re-enforced the need for this as well.

This training would be scheduled and done regularly every month and always posted on the bulletin board along with the rest of the lesson plan for that month. That way those students who had more of a need for it or wanted more practice and work in this area could then attend those classes which would be scheduled at various times. Those classes were advanced type classes though and so beginners and intermediate students would not attend except if they wanted to watch. They had not learned other important skills first nor developed their skills to a level needed and so any situation involving a weapon was to be avoided at almost any cost by them.

The training was based on number of things including things like normal reaction time, your center-line and which way to shift or move to clear the weapon and you from its path of discharge or point of fire, general types of weapons and their characteristics including flash and powder burn discharge, and other things as well. Not all techniques were offensive in nature or physical and along with all this students were taught how to act or react and increase their odds or chances of survival rather than resisting. That last aspect is critical to any weapons training I think along with any offensive techniques so that a person has more options when in a situation that involves bladed weapons and firearms.

As for weapons that I own that includes several semi-auto long barreled weapons and handguns. Those were not used in this training but instead hard rubber reproductions that are made for training purposes like what we are talking about here. Because of my training on the federal side and job and its responsibilities firearms were something that were always taken into consideration in any situation that I might happen on or became involved in. That job included carrying a concealed weapon at times and the responsibility of protecting others. The availability of weapons and their potential use by others was something that was always considered and addressed in those situations that I had to deal with when carrying concealed.

Brand new semi-vehicles final 10's of 1000's of rounds earlier than they want springs or other parts replaced...Appear up the reliability assessments for the M9 the army presently uses. Magazines are a little bit more finicky, however when you buy a few just right ones, you will have to be set for existence. How probably do you fireplace your CCW? I certainly educate with my XD9sc, however I observe/compete with a full sized handgun with identical controls/manipulations. This fashion I shrink wear, and get to educate with a more secure gun. I am now not certain I would put on out my pistol, but I do not need to try. Plus, that gives me a rock strong excuse to purchase one other gun. As for journal capacity, I have no idea. I do not feel which you could predict what number of rounds you may want. What for those who were within the bank during the north hollywood shootout (assuming it wasn't in CA, you could raise there, had an opportunity, and so on)? How about aurora? You would have shot the man 5 occasions before realizing he had armor on. You would want more ammo available than if you have been to your home defending towards a sickly, weak crackhead attacking you for money. For that reason, I individually desire the semi auto, but i might now not hesitate to hold a just right revolver if that was my handiest choice.

I have a lil 38.spl revolver sadly I have not incorperated it into my ifighting knowledge yet mostly cause ammunition prices are through the roof at the moment

however since I learned a lot of throws locks and such am probably going to use them to get my attacker off of me hopefully to a safe distance to draw and hopefully not have to kill my attacker(unless I am lucky enough to get the adanced warning that am about to be mugged/raped then I would draw just at the point I thought I was in danger)

I should add speed reloading(cause it i s a revolver) and basic drawing excersises to my home practice(will have to make/buy some dummy rounds for safety sake or that)

I also carry a folding knife if reloading is not an option(luckily that already is incorporated into my defense knowledge(escrima)

no there not for me,

in order for a gun to be useful you need to be willing to pull the trigger and take a life. which is something i dont think i would do. so then why should i carry a gun if im not going to pull the trigger.
besides i think of much more painful things to do a person

edit
there is one thing i have always laughed at when some one claims martial arts is useless because all you need is a gun for self defense. which is complete bs. if you are not willing to pull the trigger the gun can be taken from you and then your really screwed. or if they have a gun and are willing to use it when your not.
a gun is only as useful as the person holding it just like in martial arts the style is only as good as the person using it
