Is it safe to keep a rat and a mouse in the same cage?
I have had two female fancy mice since October, but the dominant one of the two of them unfortunately passed away. I don't like that my one mouse is alone now, but I would prefer a rat over another mouse. Would it be safe to keep a rat and a fancy mouse in the same cage?

It's not impossible but i would be very careful about it. Wild rats will kill and or eat wild mice both for food and because they see them as a challenge for resources. It might be possible but, personally, I wouldn't do it. Rats are great with animals bigger than they are but can be deadly to those smaller.
What a coincidence Rachel, that's something I've also mused over No rats and mice cannot be in the same cage together because they are two different animals. Rats have disease in their feces that would kill the mouse or get the mouse I hope this answers your question.
I say Rachel, that's something I've also considered No rats and mice cannot be in the same cage together because they are two different animals. Rats have disease in their feces that would kill the mouse or get the mouse Well take care Rachel.
No!!! Don't!! It is a very normal story that proprietor put the rats in with their mice and so they seem to get alongside so they hold doing it then at some point they're bowled over that their rats killed their mice! Rats are omnivores and will hunt mice within the wild, something smaller than them is reasonable recreation. She could also be getting together with them for now due to the fact that they are infants, and she or he may be very lonely if she is the one rat you have, shes just looking for extra attention! Rats want different rats, however please take away your mice from your rats cage, it is extremely detrimental for them
It's a good question Rachel, and my answer is: No rats and mice cannot be in the same cage together because they are two different animals. Rats have disease in their feces that would kill the mouse or get the mouse I hope this answers your question.
