I know you are looking for a one-dose, safe and effective product, but in reality there are few truly effective products with no safety issue. Organic products tend to be non-specific and best for spot treatment and often require repeat application. Even if your lawn grass is proper to your normal climate, variances in rainfall and temperature can stress it and allow weeds to out compete. Please look over the info in the links below. There are some herbicides which dont affect grass. Look for the following chemicals on the label: 2-4-D, mcpa, dichlorprop-P and dicamba are commonly used in lawn weedkillers.

There are TONS. You want a "broadleaf" herbicide. Bayer makes one. Just ask a pro at a garden center or greenhouse. NOT HOME DEPOT OR LOWE'S

All are safe for dogs after they're dry. I use mine with the dog in the yard. He never goes anywhere near the sprayer.
