I'm having a heck of a time getting it to look clean and shiny. It looks clean after I wash it and is shiny while its wet, but as soon as it dries it shows footprints and water spots. I've used a lot of different cleaners, including a spray foam with a soft cloth that was recommended but none of them seem to work. The surface looks cloudy and I'd love to give it some shine but I'm afraid I'll screw up the floor. Please help!

You can use white vinegar and warm water. Dry as you go. You could also have hard water giving it a cloudy appearance. Try Lowes if you want to use a polish to give it a sheen.

I have that too! I use a steam cleaner. It uses only water which gets hot after a minute or so and has steam coming out. It is supposed to dry immediately, my former one did, but I have a new popular brand, and if you don't walk on it for a bit, no showing any spots. My flooring is over 5 years and I'm still happy with it. If yours is very old, it may be that the shine has left. Try a steam cleaner! It may cheer you up and the cloudiness will disappear.

Laminate wood floors are VERY sensitive to moisture. The less you use, the better. Us something like Bona, First clean, then apply finish. The finish is a very thin, light coat of urethane. This is what gives floors their shine. Pledge, Mop 'n Glo and others make similar products.
