How fast will the bacteria grow?

For my science fair project i have to grow bacteria. Now i don't have an incubator, or any thing like that, so i'm worried that the bacteria won't grow at all, or at least take a really long time. my house is usually around 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit, so i think it might be to cold. if i put it on a radiator, will it die? Because i think that is my only other option.

LAG PHASE: Growth is slow at first, while the "bugs" acclimate to the food and nutrients in their new habitat.

LOG PHASE: Once the metabolic machinery is running, they start multiplying exponentially, doubling in number every few minutes.

STATIONARY PHASE: As more and more bugs are competing for dwindling food and nutrients, booming growth stops and the number of bacteria stabilizes.

It will depend largely on the bacteria you choose to culture. The radiator is generally a bad option, though, as they get very hot. Using E. coli, you should aim to culture them at around human body temperature, roughly 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

^different 2 answerers are a**holes. or per hazard Giuseppe is only blindly stabbing in the lifeless of night and not trolling, yet fairly attempting to assist you to. yet do no longer pour water into the dish, it won't help. ideally you'll have began in the previous than the day in the previous, yet what bacteria is it? you are able to desire to reproduce the optimal temperatures, humidity etc yet that relies upon on which bacteria! i see your added element, what type of temperatures are you presently protecting them in? you should attempt and shop them someplace heat and humid, and protecting them in an enclosed area with a paper towel over them will shrink the improve of aerobically respiratory bacteria, i could propose your bathing room. possibly you are able to think of of someplace extra appropriate! think of of your mouth - it has hundreds of species of bacteria starting to be in it, because of the fact air is continuously passing by making use of it, it fairly is advantageous and heat, and it is generally moist!

With bacteria just don't chuck it on a petri dish. You have to nurture it put on Luria Broth plate you do not prepare bacteria cultures at home unless you know what your doing. You will contaminate the plate do not grow it unless you know what your doing
