I was actually looking into training recently as well. I have spoken with a couple trainers and yet to have made a decision for my 6 month old German Shepherd. The top two that we have liked is Action Dogs USA, who trained a friends dog and Sit Means Sit Dog Training, who our vet highly recommended.

We liked the Gentleman from Actions Dogs Dan after speaking with him but he does require our dog to go with him for over a month.

We just met with Sit Means Sit and their trainer Jon last night when he came to our house. It was great. We got to meet his dog and see how trained she was, but he also worked with our Dog and spent 10 minutes working with him in front us.

They both answered all our questions.

My husband and I are just waiting for Bark Busters so that we can make a decision.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have spoken to anyone else as we really love our girl, but need to have her trained.

Please don't consider sending her away for training. Professionals are just looking for quick results, regardless of the damage to the dogs temperament.

Find a trainer who will work with you and teach you how to train your dog. This will help you to form a bond with your dog, this is vital.

After your dog is toilet trained, let her sleep in your bedroom. If you do this, she will warn you of "would be intruders". However if you don't train her yourself. the bond won't be as strong.

I have three GSD's who live in my house and sleep in my bedroom and I feel SAFE.
