Don't you just love it when some lame brain shows their ignorance by giving a thumbs down?
Grand Master Basser and I just gave factual and accurate answers to a question on trout fishing and we STILL got someones fattest finger for our efforts. I wonder why it is that even those among us who really do our best to give straight and truthful answers and to be as helpful as we possibly can still get trashed for no GOOD reason. Any guesses as to why that is?

I consider a handful of folks in here as having become true friends of mine. I have NO problem with them disagreeing with me, as I'm sure they understand my disagreeing with them. However, I tend to at least TRY to have a logical mind and when I try to logic out why someone feels the need to give good answers a thumbs down, it just makes no sense. I reserve my thumbs down for those rare occasions when someone says something so far wrong that it could endanger the asker.... ESPECIALLY in the hunting department. Am I upset? NO! Not at all. Bothered? Not in the least. Just trying to understand. And I don't. Will I continue to give the answers I hope will be considered the best? Of course. Will I get MORE thumbs down? HA! No doubt about it! LOL

It doesn't bother me anymore, Dan B. I'm over it. The way I see it is, I gave a better answer than he who gave me the thumb down and the sumbitch is just a jealous f*cktard. No biggie. I feel that the more thumbs down I get, the better job I do... imagine getting half a dozen thumbs down on a perfectly good and legitimate and truthful and well though-out answer. It's in that moment when you realize the thumbs up/thumbs down system is total bullshit.
Some will do it to try and make their answer look better than the others. What is messed up is I have seen people choose an answer that has received the most thumbs up and some of these answers weren't accurate. A few of these people even said this answer had the most thumbs up and that tells me it has to be the right answer. The one thing that is worse than getting thumbs down is having a person with multiple accounts report an answer and have it removed. Sure you can appeal it, but by the time anything is done the question is usually resolved.
I can't understand why people answer questions haphazardly or poorly , much less, give thumbs down. Dan, I have the same thumbs down principles you have- I only thumbs down when absolutely necessary. In fact, I give thumbs up to people even if I know their answer is only 40% complete or generally incomplete- there effort is appreciated, (if only by me).
But, like "GMB" has stated- I've gotten used to it. Jealousy, idiocy, people with no manners is "the norm" not the exception. It's a shame. (And years ago, when there WAS no thumbs it was a much better forum)
And, recall, many of the users in YAnswer's are 12-24 Yrs of age, (with 12-19 making up the majority). Immaturity can run rampant.....
The irony?? Many of our regulars (in Fishing) are younger folk and they typically act much more mature than their age.......
I am proud to call those younger people friends. There are only a few people on here I trust and that always give 100% when answering a Q- you are one of them. Your answer's and stories are well-liked and superb! Superb I say! There are only a handful that take the time- you are #1 in my book, Bro.

Side note- Love the lure- it's a beauty! I was gonna email you, but, was waiting to hear back from Superior about your (possible) article first. Anyway, I'll shoot ya an email tomorrow....or tonight..depending....
Sometimes it makes me so mad I could spit . I get up and start yelling as I stomp around the room, throwing things and clearing off whole table tops . Then I sit down and rest because my wife will be home soon and I have to get all this cleaned up before then . I hope I don't get another thumbs down ever again .
