Because Y!A offers suggestions based on keywords. When you ask about PHONE, the first suggestion is Land Phones. You have to ask about CELL PHONE to get Cell Phones and Plans as the first suggestion.
If you ask about CORDLESS DRILLS, again Land Phones come up because you asked about Cordless.
It all comes down to reading.

People don't understand the terminology. People like to be quick, and so "phone" is a phone, is a phone. Only us answer people really care. We may have a skill leaning in more the older technology or with younger technicians, the newer systems. Not many are really bothering with older types of problems. It is this way, they tell me. The language changes with the times. There are a number of words in common usage today, (not slang) that have completely different meaning than they did 100 and even only 50 years ago. I can remember calculators in the early 70's. They made good sense to me. Ten years later the term computer started getting into our normal vocabulary. They sounded to be the same thing to me. And what does computing have to do with word processing? One day, me a dynamic service tech, came across a body fender garage with a computer set up. I looked at the man as a pup, I was. He had boldly scratched his way into the new, when I could not even wrap my mind around its terminology. This is the case! The new people have no notion what "Land Line" means. You have to admit, they are not connecting to celestial satellites, but to terrestial towers, Right?

Since land lines are becoming a thing of the past, probably the "now" generation doesn't recognize what is meant by a "land phone" and thinks that because they use their cell phones on land and not in the sky, it's a LAND phone... just a guess..
