How do you solve the problem such as $51.00 is 40% of what number?
Deducting percentage is easy, but I am blanking out on how to add percentage. I don't need you to solve the problem, but explain how do you do the reverse? I am blanking out. It has been 54 years since I graduated from high school. Thanks in advance.

Hello !
The best way to approach a solution to this questions is to take it step by step.
So let's remember yourself's how to deduct a percentage. But to understand it properly let's do an example;
The test is worth 100 points and I only got 75 marks . So that means that i got 75 % of the total marks right easy ! However, we can prove this by using the following formula;
~( Relative number / Whole number ) x 100 = % ( 75 / 100 ) x 100 = % 0.75 x 100 = 75 % . So we have prove the above example to be true.
In this case;
However, Let's say I am in a restaurant and ones i finish my delicious meal I get a bill of $120 =( . Then I remember that I got to give 15% tip to the server . You would take out your iphone and calculate in the app =) yes ! . But you notice that forgot your phone; so you go in your head;
1. Step one ; Divide the percentage by 100 ; 15%/ 100 = 0.15 2. Step two; Multiply 0.15 times the 120 which gives you $ 18. But the server did a really good job and you give him the 20 bucks lol.
Case 3; lets say you are shopping and you see a designer shirt 40% off and you want to buy it for x- person , you walk in and you see the price tag $ 51.00 and in small print " the price includes the 40% off ". Well, you want to know what the original price was;
Then follow this steps;
1. Divide the % by 100 ; 40% / 100 = 0.4 2. Take the discounted price; in this case 51 and divided by 0.4 = $ 127.5
Well, as you can see I hope you understand basically in nerdy terms is all way playing around wand rearranging the percentage formula with the algebra laws. But , just tried to follow my steps and it should be okay =) !
extra;
~Remember when you mentally divide a percentage greater than 10 ,and less than 100 you are always going 0. w/e the percentage . If the percentage is less than 10 then you are gonna get 0.0 percentage.
ok so that you're given a decision and a %. What you do is first replace the % right into a fragment. 40/one hundred in different words 2/5. What I do is I divide by technique of the numerator (for this reason 2) and the multiply by technique of the denominator (5). So 16/2 = 8. and eight x 5 = 40. desire this enables
