I fine myself thinking about this sentence at least once a day, and it never seems to diminish in validity or become cliched in my mind like most things. What does that mean for us if the wisest thing that's been said about us is that we are infinitely stupid?

I wouldnt say human stupidity is infinite because the universe has been and will be here forever. Humans can cease existence at any time. Therefore, if no humans then no stupidity.

I wouldn't consider it the wisest thing. There are many people on this earth who are not stupid and who try to improve the world... so that statement is kind of pompous and not of real help in anyway, thus it is stupid in itself.

Humans are capable of incredibly stupid and cruel acts, of that there is no doubt. However, mankind is capable of greatness and of compassion. Look at Einstein himself, he is a creation of this world and there are more of them like that. Take a look around and look at the smart capable world that are shaping the world. Yes, they may be balanced out by the evil, cruel, and stupid. However, it is up to us to live our lives as best as we can and teach our children to do the same.
