How many books will there be in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series?

Also how many have already been released, and are there any planed for the future. Thanks in advance!

Seven, provided George R.R. Martin lives long enough. Two remaining for release, five already released. Next book, The Winds of Winter, does not have a planned release date.

There have been five books:
Game of Thrones.
A clash of Kings
A storm of swords. Split into two parts.
A feast for crows
A dance with dragons. Split into two parts.

The final two, The winds of winter and a Dream of spring, have not yet been released. The Winds of winter will be released , I am guessing, in 2016. A dream of spring in 2022, maybe.

I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves to read. The TV show is great too. But I prefer the books.
