I'm not sure that liberals have EVER claimed to be "SOOO much more giving." Can you cite a source for this claim? Otherwise, you're just bashing yet another straw-man.
EDIT: Certainly "liberals claim to be for the poor" (though I'm not sure many liberals would actually assert that conservatives hate them). But the whole idea behind liberalism that the poor should benefit from organised public assistance, and not from private charity. While you could argue that giving less to charity (if indeed liberals do give less to charity) reflects poorly on them as individuals, but it certainly is in no way inconsistent with liberal political beliefs.
That stat has been debunked a lot. Among other things it includes tithes and other gifts to churches. That's not exactly "giving to charity" (well some of it is spent on charitable works but some is just spent for the churches operating expenses)
They claim to be so much more compassionate and caring by means of offering entitlements and welfare, but never in giving. It's a fact that conservatives/republicans give more in terms of charity.
because you've confused "tax deduction" with charity.
Your church, which only benefits you and your congregation is not a charity, it is just a tax deduction. Giving ten million dollars to the Romney campaign through a number of shell PACs and the Mormon church is tax deduction, not a charity.
