Write the quadratic relation in standard form?

Y=4(x+3)^2-4

And how you did it please? ^ means to power

The standard form of a quadratic is

y = ax^2 + bx + c

So, start by multiplying out the brackets...

Y = 4 [ x^2 + 6x + 9] - 4

Y = 4x^2 + 24x + 36 - 4

Y = 4x^2 + 24x + 32

Standard form of a quadratic function: ax^2+bx+c

expand the quantity (x+3)^2 by FOIL. Since you're squaring the same quantity, use the pattern (a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

a= x
b=3

therefore -----------> (x+3)^2 = x^2 + 6x + 9

now distribute the four to each term ------> 4x^2 + 24x + 36

now subtract 4 = 4x^2 + 24x + 32

Done.
