@ Chewy Ivan2.... The so called stimulus took just 2 months to pass and later even O'Bama had to admit that there is no such thing as a shovel ready project!
Q:”I have to live within my means. Why can’t the government balance its budget?” A: Apples and oranges. The US Treasury can print money. You can’t - legally.
If Congress did not spend more than it taxed, where would we get our savings? Counterfeiting? Only morons want a balanced budget. Unfortunately, that’s half of our voters – and our Congress!
Our federal government is not a business that must balance its budget. It is a sovereign state that creates its own fiat currency. It never needs to borrow and can never become insolvent.
There is no requirement in the Constitution that forces Congress to borrow money. There is only a law that a bribed Congress passed to give risk-free profit to bond-holders. It’s a pure scam.
Congress should stop borrowing and paying interest. It should print just enough money to employ unemployed people to repair and build needed infrastructure.
If Congress printed $1 per year for every consumer, that would be $25o million. If Congress printed $1,000 yearly per consumer, that would be $250 billion for infrastructure and only $3 daily per consumer, not enough to eat at Starbuck’s. So why would she need a wheelbarrow to carry her cash?
Inflation is caused entirely by bank over-lending during prosperity, when loans create $30 out of thin air for every dollar of deficit spending. So stop yelling Zimbabwe! Weimar!
Because we were willing the accept the continuing resolution approach while they focused on bigger problems, like a broken economy and health care system.
Why do you care so much about the specific approach our government uses to pay the bills when so many Americans are unemployed and underemployed?
Edit: I didn't say they did a particularly good job. I'm just explaining why the official budget process wasn't a high priority.
