Which TV to buy for college? What do you recommend?

I am going to college and will be buying a TV soon. Heres my requirements and hopefully based off that you can recommend good TVs for me to buy

1. Size- 32 inches
2. Excellent display and crisp image
3. TV that can be used as an external monitor for my Macbook and still have clear display
4. Awesome TV for gaming (Xbox 360)

I'm not strict on the budget because i will be willing to spend a little more for a better resolution TV (but nothing outrageously expensive)

What models/brands should i consider buying?

$300-400 should be able to get you a nice 1080p LCD screen. LED models will be a bit more expensive which may not work for your budget. Honestly, for college, I wouldn't spend more than $300-400. You're going to be moving a lot, and the last thing you want to do is drop a bunch of cash on something that possibly is going to get damaged while in transit from place to place.

Brands: big name is better. Sony is good but overpriced, otherwise check out Sharp, Samsung, or Panasonic. I use a 32" ASUS "TV" (it thinks it's a monitor...but has a TV tuner and TV inputs) for my computer & Xbox, which I bought for $300 a few years ago.

If budget is REALLY an issue, then check out Vizio.

AVOID: RCA, Dynex, Polaroid.

Look for a TV that has 3 or more HDMI ports, and if possible, at least 1 component video input (red, blue, green, white, red) and 1 composite video (yellow, red, white) input. This way you'll have enough ports for your foreseeable future, including a way to hookup that old SNES someone is bound to have...

Sony or Samsung are two reliable brands. I bought a 32" Sony Bravia a couple of months ago and love it.
