Why does the acer c7 opens itself up every time I open the lid? I never push the power button up in the top...?

I just bought this chromebook yesterday and its my first time using a chromebook so any advice would help... So is that considered shut down or is it not fully shutting down?

If you just set it to sleep or hibernate the it will restart when the lid is opened as it thinks you wan to use it and for that it needs to be on.
It maybe set that way. look in the power options box to see what the lid is set to operate
