I have a question about a job interview?

I am applying to a job to work at a cafeteria worker at the high school in town. My question is I have another job and have to rely on transportation to get to work. I plan to call them Tuesday and if they want me to come to an interview on Tuesday I wont be able to get a ride on that short notice and plus I have to work later in the day and wont get out until 8:30. I do not want to call out for an interview as if I do not get the job that means I loose a days pay. What could I say to them so it wont seem like I am unreliable? The high school is right down the street from where I work so I could have an interview another day of the week and either get dropped off at the high school then walk to work or when I work in the morning I can go after work.

Just voice your concerns and tell them you dont have your own car so your hours are determined by when you can get a ride. This doesnt make you seem unreliable if you seen eager and explain beforehand. Usually places are flexible with interviewees and you can work out a time that works for both of you. Just be honest and enthusiastic, they appreciate honesty if it has to do with this kind of stuff. It better to tell them about your situation upfront rather than turn up late later or something.

Normally you would be asked to come in for an interview, and they should schedule it at your and their convenience. Don't be afraid to say that you are scheduled to work at your current job that evening, but would be available at a different time. This makes you a dependable person and shows a work ethic, so good for you! Good Luck!

if you get an interview, if they pic a time that conflicts with your work schedule, you just explain that.

"that time conflicts with my work schedule currently. Can we set up an interview anytime between blank and blank?"
