When I was young I did the same, however as time went on it felt meaningless. These were people I had no intention of ever starting a real relationship. I ended up hurting a few people. It's frowned on because peoples feeling can get trampled, std's, possible unwanted pregnancy, and no matter what you may think what you do affects other people.
