when they say employee should be on your W-2 what documents are needed to make that happen ?

I get this from clients often - "are the employee on your W-2?"
What are the documents I need for employee to come on my W-2 ? I know that I need W-4 filled out and I-9 for verification & background check. After filling/ getting the W-4 filled & the I-9 filled, where should I submit these documents... ? is it on the IRS website..? and social security website ..?

I am a beginner, would you please help me with how - tos..

Someone working for you can either be an independent contractor or an employee. If you treat the person as an employee - provide a work environment, give instructions, etc. - then they are an employee as far as the IRS is concerned, even if your arrangement with the "employee" was to work as a contractor.

I assume what the question is really about is, is an employee legitimately hired? As an example, it's not uncommon for a household employee to be paid cash, and for neither home-owner or employee to report anything to the IRS.

Employees receive a W-2 from you. Contractors receive a 1099 from you.
