I've got a new project for an old truck?
I have a 77 Chevy step side 4X4 pick up with a total lift of 7 inches. I'm rebuilding a 454 to replace my tired 350 4 bolt main that;s in it,as well as welding the hood to the fenders and making a tilt front end so it's easier to work on.Just raise it pull a couple of pins and carry it off out of the way. My question of which I'll know exactly when I get to it to do some measuring is ,has anyone ever taken a like kind,as in years dually rear end and saddled it up on one of these short bed pick ups?
I'll not know till I get down to measuring, but I'm going to make the rear end the same width so that both wheels are sitting beneath and within the boundaries of my fenders as on the dually pick ups.
Has any builder out there ever attempted this, and if so can you give me an idea about how much I'll be taking off the tubes and re welding to make my new rear end fit as I wish it too?
I've always tried to have a ride that is different than everyone else's,and to my knowledge,I've never seen a short bed step side 4X4 with a dual rear end under it. Would be a bad little ride I do think so myself. As well as a different breed than most on the road. Will be hell on wheels out here in the desert in Arizona when it's finished.Pass everything,go anywhere, but past a gas station near as I can figure.
Should never have any problem pulling my flat bed trailer regardless of what I load on it.
