I was browsing through a book on steampunk themed crafts. One of the crafts was decorating a cellphone case, which I thought was odd because I wasn't sure there were cell phones in steampunk. But I haven't read much of the genre. Are there any cell phones, or any type of portable phones, in any steampunk stories?

I've never read about cell phones in steampunk. However, steampunk is also a style of decoration, so if you want to make a steampunk style phone case, have at it.

I'm pretty sure there are, but it doesn't matter, really. Pretty much can have a steampunk equivalent. can motorcycles or robots run on steam in real life? no, but they're awesome anyway http://cdn.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Steampunk.jpg this is a good example.
