Is the Sig SSG 3000 a good rifle?

I'm in the process of building a precision rifle, I purchased a Sig SSG 3000 as my rifle. I did have a 700 AAC-SD but sold it to help pay for this Sig!!! In your opinion is the Sig SSG 3000 a good rifle!

Yes. IMO, it is a "good" rifle. Maybe even better than good.

It will probably be hard to find someone familiar with building a precision rifle on a SSG 3000. A lot more guys out there could build you as good of a rifle on a Rem 700. And if you think you are going to build it and had the capability to build it, you would know if the SSG 3000 was a good choice.

In my opinion, the likelihood that you owned a Remington 700 AAC-SD is pretty low, and the likelihood that you own a Sig is even lower. Considering that you're talking about an incredibly expensive rifle that you "purchased," yet you don't know if it's a good rifle... should we really believe you?

But assuming you're not a troll (we get a lot of them), it should be a fine rifle, albeit expensive. Just remember, though, that spending more money does not a good shot make.

Good - for what?

Hate to burst your bubble. You are what we call a 'Wallet Warrior'. Someone who drops $3500 on a rifle...... when a $500 standard rifle and $3,000 worth of ammo wouild have been a better choice.

Guys like you - make guys like me just stare at the ground and shake our heads. $3500 rifle and your groups are no better than what my wife does with her pistol at the same distance.

Something to consider. This is a rifle designed for a Master class shooter. If you are not one - that means every time you shoot it - it degrades a tiny bit. And by the time you are good enough to warrant actually owning a gun like this - it will be firing like a regular off the shelf $500 new gun.

Smartest thing you can do is grease this up nice and put it back in the box and into deep storage. Go buy yourself a standard grade 308 and when you can nail 11" pie plates at 600 yards with ease 5 or 6 times in a row ....... then go clean up this Sig and start using it.

You cannot buy your way into skill and experience. If you were a NRA Master Class shooter, military EIC rifle shooter, regular champion at your state or regional championships, or your local police has sent you to the 20 week shake and bake sniper civilian sniper school I could see you justifying owning this. But to come here and ask if this this good - is like a kid with a steak asking us if a T-bone is good to eat..... when they would probably be better off with a hot dog. It's your money.
