Minimum Years of Service in the National Guard/ Air National Guard?

I am wondering about what is the shortest amount of service time one can serve in the National Guard or Air National Guard?

Note: If I were to join it would not be for career purposes, but to simply serve my country.

Generally 6 years active with 2 years inactive for both of those.  All initial contracts are a total of 8 years for all branches.
