Queen at Live Aid. Incredible to think now that a lot of us foolishly felt that they were finished just before that concert - yes, I'll hold my hands up as well. I was glad to be proved wrong though.
Deep Purple at the time of the Smoke on the Water era.
Jimi Hendrix and The Who when they were trying to out do each other at the Monterey Festival in 1967. There was an argument over the billing. Hendrix was furious that The Who were going on before him because they had a similar party trick of destroying guitars. So The Who went on first and duly wrecked their instruments whilst Hendrix ceremonially burnt his guitar with lighter fluid, making it seem more of a sacrifice to the rock gods. :)
The whole Woodstock experience in 1969.
Bob Dylan when he went electric in the mid 60's. There was one concert in particular which he played in Manchester, England, in 1966. He was just about to start playing Like a Rolling Stone when someone shouted out, "Judas!" Dylan said, "I don't believe you." He then turned to his band and said, "Play ferkin' loud." Listening to a bootleg he seemed to tear the place up.
