I like to wear my hair short but it tends to grow back really fast. The shortest I have ever buzzed it is at 3/16 of an inch and even still it seems to grow back too quick. Should I take it on down to 1/8 of an inch (which I know will be very very short) or would that be too short?

The average rate of hair growth is 1/8" per week, hence, the difference in length between 3/16" and 1/8" amounts to about 3.5 days of hair growth for a guy whose hair grows at the average rate. A longer short style like an ivy league or crew cut can go longer between haircuts than a burr(short butch) or butch and still look well groomed. The best way to describe a style to a barber or stylist is with a photo.

Some barbers consider that all crew cuts should have a flat top, so it is best to not rely on words alone for even a widely recognized style like a crew cut.

A minute dab of control wax aka butch wax will keep the hair looking well groomed at crew cut and ivy league length.
