Jackie Bradley Jr. picked as starting CF for the Red Sox your thoughts?

Now that Jacoby is gone we can make room for some much better players that do more than just steal bases. Jackie Bradley Jr. has just been picked to be the starting CF for the Red Sox in 2014. I think he has a lot of potential. Can't wait.

Your thoughts?

King Cold I have payed a lot of attention to all the games last season and in the playoffs. I am not a bitter red sox fan and I wasn't really upset when Jacoby signed with the Yankees because I knew it was gonna happen. I wasn't really thrilled with Jacoby always being injured and now I heard he could possibly not even be able to play for the Yankees this season do to being on the DL which could mean out for the season.

I think Jackie has lots of promise and I am excited to see a young guy do well.

If you haven't noticed I am one of the few female Red Sox fans thats not a pink hat and I actually know my stuff when it comes to baseball.

Ellsbury did a great many things well - covered a lot of ground in the outfield, hit for average, had some power, and stole more bases than anyone.

That all said, Bradley has a chance to be good in a different way. Last year he was a bit overwhelmed by the big stage, so we'll have to see how he does. I like having Sizemore around, just in case.

If you honestly think Jacoby Ellsbury only stole bases well, and aren't just a typical bitter Red Sox fan, then you really haven't payed much attention to the game in a long time. He's an excellent defender, has good extra base power (just not homer power), and does a very good job at getting on base. The past three seasons Ellsbury has been an All Star caliber player, and the other one he was injured. Bradley probably will have better power numbers, but Ellsbury's defense and baserunning, along with his solid contact rates and walk rate, make Bradley a big step down overall.

Potential is what we've heard for two years now. It's time for Jackie to fish or cut bait. I'm pulling for him. We'll see.
