Two questions: When Obama said he would "fundamentally transform America as it was founded" has he done that thus far?

Second question: When Michelle Obama said "America is a downright mean country" do you think she still feels that way after all the vacations and hundreds of millions of dollars the American taxpayer has provided for her and her family over the past several years?

So Sarah your saying that he had indeed fundamentally transformed America and that America is better off now? Secondly, you did not answer the question concerning Michelle. I don't understand how any of this is out of context.

Sandplant 16: You did not answer the questions. Secondly, your trying to blame the Bush administration and Laura Bush?

Obama is indeed transforming America right in front of our eyes.
So many changes he wanted and he went around Congress to get them.
Look at our jobless, our outlandish debt, and this Obamacare mess
with at least 35 changes since it took effect. I think that is unconstitutional
after a program has become law unless voted upon.
He's had three scandals already (IRS spying, Fast & Furious, etc.)
Yes, we're being transformed into a Socialist Nation.

Seems odd to resent Michelle for taking advantage of the same benefits offered to any first lady in history, when there was not even a hint of that expressed for the first lady of the last administration. Makes one wonder. What is it about her that makes her more deserving of your disrespect?

The answer will reveal that it is more your problem than it is hers.

Edit: Fair enough. OK, no fundamental transformation can come in just a few terms. Michelle does not consider this a mean country, as Sarah pointed out, context should be your friend. And, no, am not blaming any of this on Laura Bush. She is a nice lady and I respect her.

Unfortunately both Obamadopes have transformed this country into a nightmare of excessive regulations and taxes. A huge unsustainable deficit, a nation of more restrictions and rules, class warfare, racial divides, and a projection of weakness with bumbling bureaucrats.

Context is your friend:

Obama:
The quote comes from an October 30, 2008 campaign rally in Columbia, Missouri.

After decades of broken politics in Washington, and eight years of failed policies from George W. Bush, and 21 months of a campaign that's taken us from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California, we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America. In five days, you can turn the page on policies that put greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street. In five days, you can choose policies that invest in our middle class, and create new jobs, and grow this economy, so that everyone has a chance to succeed, not just the CEO, but the secretary and janitor, not just the factory owner, but the men and women on the factory floor. In five days, you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election, that tries to pit region against region, and city against town, and Republican against Democrat, that asks -- asks us to fear at a time when we need to hope."
