If Ray Kroc's last name wasn't McDonald, why is it called McDonald's and not Kroc's?

Seems sketchy to me.

McDonalds was named after the brothers who bought 9 Burger stores in the early 1950.s. Ray Kroc joined them in 1954 (at that time McDonalds was struggling) and changed the company into a Franchise.

Ray Kroc started out as a salesman for milkshake machines used in fast food restaurants. He delivered to this fast-food place in San Bernardino, CA, run by two brothers named McDonalds. He loved the whole idea of the place and he tried to convince the bros to expand to a chain, but they were older and ready to retire. So he bought the place from them, and as they say, the rest is history.

And I agree with the first answerer--calling it Krocs wouldn't have been a good idea. But then it did work for shoes, didn't it? 8^)

Ray Kroc purchased the chain that was originally created by Richard and Maurice McDonald.

Would have gone out of business in about a year.

The restaurant, started by the McDonald brothers, was already in existence when Kroc bought it.

What'd You Say?2014-04-19T19:46:14Z

He had friends with the last name McDonalds who owned the burger joint actually. He bought the company from them but kept the name. I believe it was two brothers. I remember watching a documentary about it.
