if he gave him one of his fingers. The poor man did this and the rich man paid him. But when the poor man picked up his money bags he did it with all ten fingers in place. How?

He was born with an eleventh finger, but could not have it surgically removed because he was poor.  So he let the rich man cut it off.  With the money, the formerly poor man could go to the ER and get the bleeding stopped and get pain pills.
