I was looking at this boat http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/boa/4559458159.html
It is a 1983 thunder craft titan with a 40hp mercury outboard.
I was wondering what you guys think of this boat. Does it look like decent shape. Is 40hp enough for this boat? Does anyone know the max hp this boat can have?

This boat looks to be in fairly good condition. No visible tears in the upholstery and canvas, Looks to be clean and well maitained, and the 40 Merc is a reliable engine and will probably push that 15 foot boat with a couple of adults at around 28-30 mph- not exactly a speed demon, but still a comfy cruising speed, and the Cadorette (that's who made Thundercraft) cathedral hull gives a stable ride.
That said, if everything checks out OK on the water test (always water test a used boat), the boat, motor and trailer are worth $1200-$1500, not $2500.
Yeah, I agree with Harry.. I'd offer up to 1750 max and that would be after a water test, not a hose test. Its a nice looking boat for its age, shows they took care of it.
