Do you believe that mature workers over 50 are much more qualified than some of their younger counterparts?

Do you think that most mature workers are better at their job than most of the young workers these days?
I suppose it all depends on the job or vocation. Wouldn't an experienced doctor be more valuable than a young 30 year old who has just completed their internship?
Why do most employers prefer to hire young people even though they may pay them at a low rate of income?
No offense to any young people who do work hard and get a good income. I commend you.

no because they're getting old, brittle and more likely to get hurt on the job. Take my field for example. I'm a welder. Depending on the job, you gotta lift heavy objects. Even if the person is in good shape but in their 50s, they're more likely to get hurt than I am, 20, because they're older and naturally getting weaker. When it comes to the field of welding, the younger the better because we still have the energy, stronger, and more flexible bodies to lift up 50lbs metal objects without doing something wrong.

I suppose it depends on the job. My father and I both hold warehouse jobs, and although he has decades of experience over me, the simple matter of the fact is I can lift heavier weight and perform the job faster then he does. I'm not trying to talk down to my dad, but it is what it is.

That's why I say it really depends on the field. Sometimes experience only gets you so far.
