most people will never top anything jerry does with a handgun.

Can I top that shot? No. I'd be proud if I could hit a balloon that size from 25 yards with a handgun.
Do I believe that its a real video? Yes, Jerry Miculek holds (or once held) numerous world records for various feats using a pistol. Even though1000 yards is WAY beyond the "effective" range of a 9mm the bullet clearly can travel that far, so in the right hands its possible to get lucky and make that shot. Who knows what kind of prep went into that (calculating bullet drop, windage etc). I also wonder how many practice shots he took trying to get a feel for it at that range. But yes, I do believe that someone with world champion pistol skills and a little luck could make that shot.

Pretty nice - if true.
That video feed of the target in the lower right is considerably darker than that main video footage - any 10 year old kid with an old photo edit program could have made that work. Now, if the camera had shown him aiming and then zoomed into the target - then I would have been impressed. That would have told me the guy actually expected to hit it. To me - this is just blind squirrel shooting - the idea being that even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.
I'm also pretty sure it's not his first day at the range trying to do this. Which is fine. We used to shoot at balloons floating on the water with our 45's on the ship I was stationed on - some shots out to a mile - not a hard thing to do so long as you saw the splash and corrected for it.
The impressive thing on this video is he is not shooting at a much, much bigger target to walk his round in. Again, this tells me he's done this before. If you put anyone out there with a case off ammo I am sure they could do it do it too - eventually.

Notice he didn't hit the balloon, but the lead fragments spattered and took out the balloon. Similar tricks are used in horseback shooting events using blackpowder and cream of wheat or cornmeal, so you only have to get close-enough to pop the balloon.
Still, he's a heck of a shooter, especially with a revolver! He's not a big man, but if you ever get the chance to meet him, shake his hand. He has a grip like a python! Who's impressing me at events is Lena! Only 18 but she has his natural talent.

Trickery.....i don't think the actual bullet took out the balloon and with enough luck / practice / ammo, i would like to try it. You just need a good spotter and arc the rounds into it. When they say that bullets are dangerous out to "X" miles...now you know what they mean. This is like shooting a mortar....the bullet will travel that distance but that's way out of a 9's effective range.
