How do I solve this problem? 1/5x - 1/4x + 1/3x = -17/60?

I need to see as many steps as you can show please and thank you !!

for A.) I got x=(-4±√(-20))/2

because we haven't got to imaginary numbers yet so he just wants the most simplified form using the quadratic equation im assuming

a)
x^2 - 4x + 9 = 0
x
= [4 ± √(16 - 36)]/2
= [4± √(-20)]/2
= (4 ± 2 i √5)/2
= 2 ± i √5

b)
1/5x - 1/4x + 1/3x = -17/60
12x - 15x + 20x = -17
17x = -17
x = -1
