Made a mistake in an email to a future employer.....help!?

My dad emailed his resume to a potential employer as they pay more than his current employer. So far, they asked him to come in next week to fill out an application. So far, so good. Well...

He put down that he had seven months experience in a certain work area, however, doing the exact math, his experience comes to about five to almost six months. Should he email the potential employer? The experience on his resume reflects only years (e.g. 2012 to 2014), not months. Also, he hasn't filled out the application yet.

Is there anyway Dad can fix this? He really needs this job.

It's "seven months" if you count them offhand but mathematically speaking. He had worked in a specific field from near the end of March to the present.

S'cuse me. Getting back on my chair after laughing so hard about the employee who worked for one year getting five years of experience. That's a good one!

Seven months, five months, it's not going to come up. If it were seven years compared to five months, it would be a different story. If it does come up, which it won't, your dad should just say, "Oops, I miscounted." There's no intent to mislead anyone (unlike saying you have five years experience at a place you only worked one year at - LOL!).

This is not something to worry about. During the interview he will be able to show that he has the type of experience they are looking for or not.

As an example: I have employees who worked for me where they worked for only 1 year but I consider them having gained 5 years of experience because of how much they have done during that time. But other people might have been in a job for 20 years but they only have 1 year of experience (doing the same thing everyday for 20 years doesn't create more experience).

He has worked five months, plus part of March and part of Sept. That's close enough. March thru Sept is close enuff to 7 months.

No, he should just leave it alone. Close enough, they aren't even likely to care or notice. If he had said seven YEARS, he'd have a problem.
