If the Southern Strategy is a myth why did RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman apologize to blacks?

It was called "the southern strategy," started under Richard M. Nixon in 1968, and described Republican efforts to use race as a wedge issue -- on matters such as desegregation and busing -- to appeal to white southern voters.

Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee chairman, this morning will tell the NAACP national convention in Milwaukee that it was "wrong."

It's only 'real' if they think it's 'real'. This is a crowd that also thinks the earth is 6000 yrs old, Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs, and everything else in life that they don't 'feel' is right, well just plain isn't. They don't think it exists so therefore it really doesn't but they are apologizing just in case somebody else 'thinks' it does. Funny how the Southern states since 68 have gone red and mostly stayed that way. Odd for thing for myth to do that. Best luck.

No apology necessary.
Democrat President Lyndon Bayne Johnson played the ultimate race card in 1964, when he signed the Civil Rights Act.
In his words, "I'll have those N877654 voting Democrat for the next 200 years"!
How soon you forget the racists words of a Democrat President.
Not surprising.
Democrats have "altered" all of their hate speech.
YEP,
keep those Democrats in power!

Because the GOP is presently led by Democrat employees.
The "Southern Strategy" is a matter of HISTORY and involved nothing more than to point-out the Democrat platform of high taxes, gun control and widespread Federal intervention where it is not lawfully allowed.
It is likewise a matter of History that Democrats claimed "taxes" was a mysterious code-word for "race relations." Just as all Democrats still do NOW, they simply claimed ANY and ALL dissent from their platform was entirely due to "racism."

Only Racist and idiots think the Southern Strategy is a myth. Notice how half of them deny it and the other half justify it, they are a clueless bunch of idiots.

And Obama and the dems have taken it to a new level. They wave a "strategy" for just about every possible racial/ethnic/gender/special interest group. For example, how is the "war on women" strategy any different?
