Can I do an apprenticeship even though I have an Bachelor Degree?
Ok I've graduated in December 2012 completing my degree in IT. While I had a couple of jobs as a Web Developer since then, it hasn't been anything long term, which is what I'm looking in a job.
I've been applying for jobs each day. but get rejected because I don't have enough experience and how are you meant to get experience without getting a job first. Not to mention that my field is so competitive. I have tried and do some freelancing work, but have found nearly all the clients I work with are unreliable. No school or any non-for-profit organization want to take me on-board for volunteer work.
Having a look at things now, I'm starting to regret going to Uni, since you pay good money for a education and you get nothing out of it, expect for a piece of paper. All the lectures end up doing is giving you handouts and expect you to learn nearly everything by yourself. Furthermore, most of the technologies that are used in the Web industry are not taught at Uni whatsoever, which is also setting me back quite allot.
I'm sick of tired of being on unemployment and waiting for "my time to come". I want to look into doing an apprenticeship in automotive or panel beating. I want to start learning new skill and do something with my life, instead on waiting around on newstart. I've tried applying for other jobs such as maccas but get rejected when I go for an interview :( I just want to know is it possible for me to get an apprenticeship? I'm based in Australia by the way. Thanks
