I thought Halloween was meant to be 'scary'?

Halloween can be scary and it was originally meant to be scary to scare off evil spirits, but these days, it doesn't always have to be. Some people like to dress up in a costume that's either funny or just straight up awesome or a costume they feel matches who they are as a person. People still dress up as zombies, vampires, mummies, fictional serial killers, etc., but Halloween has expanded it's horizons by allowing people to dress up as whatever they want.
If people were only allowed to dress up in a costume that was scary, Halloween wouldn't be any fun for some people. I see nothing wrong in someone dressing up as a cop, or a fireman, a superhero, a fairy, etc. because that's one of the main points of Halloween, to dress up as whatever you want to be....Show more

Do something out of character if it is what pleases you.

Originally, Halloween was NOT meant to be 'scary'. Grown women WITH their kids would go around to houses in everyday clothes asking for spare food or clothes for the poor in their town, not treats for themselves. It was a religious holiday. "All Hallow's Eve" The holy evening....Show more
