There is an abandoned cat who lives at my old job. He was abandoned there a couple years ago and is not feral. I just noticed very cold weather is on the way. 20 degrees on Tuesday night I think and high winds. The main problem is I have a cat already who hates other cats. Also I'm not sure if the homeless cat has any disease which could hurt my cat. The possibility of disease is my biggest concern because then I would need to deal with 2 sets of vet bills plus I love my cat and don't want him to get sick. Any advice/ideas?

I think that it is somewhat cruel, although that is a little strong of a word for this situation, to leave stray cats if it is cold and/or windy but that is just my personal opinion. If you are worried about disease or something like that just leave a bowl of food outside where you have seen the cat and I am sure that the cat will appreciate it.

You could take him to the humane society, or if you wanted to try adopted him get him a vet check for disease so you know he is safe for your cat
