Perry was pretty Sharp; even BEFORE He had that Accident that landed Him in a Wheelchair -on "Ironsides." ;) I'd have to say He had an IQ of about 140- at Least.

The show was not supposed to be realistic in today's terms. It was entertainment. We really cannot judge a fictional literary character like Perry Mason as if he were a real person.

I watched it in 1964 and thought of it as entertaining and we liked the formula of the program.

It's the script writer who had the intelligence. Perry Mason was a TV character.

I'd rank him medium IQ since so many of his "solves" involved the perp suddenly caving and confessing in the courtroom. Nero Wolfe had a much higher IQ but he was a fictional detective like Sherlock Holmes, who also had a high IQ.

Imagine the Lone Ranger flicking a booger at you.
