Is faith a good thing? or bad?

In our society, it is common for people and popular media to hold 'faith' as a positive attribute. People of faith are given special consideration. People are told to look to faith when they are in need. However, faith is "belief without evidence" and sometimes faith is not just in the absence of evidence, but is entirely counter to the evidence (look at prayer over medical science for an example).

In my recent musings, I have realized it is faith that I find the hardest to accept from religion and theism. It bothers me that people take faith other demonstrable fact. It bothers me that people use faith to pick political candidates over experience or policy. I have come to view faith as a bad thing, a sign of a weak and lazy mind.

depends on the level of faith..
it's like asking is breathing air a good thing or bad...
you need air, so it;s good, you breath to much, you will die (or collapse)

same with faith... you need some faith in personal struggles, and challenges. But let's face it.. to much of it, well it's not realistic and it will work against you no matter what.

Faith is *always* (yes, *ALWAYS*) a bad thing.

The only way to know which things are likely true and which are likely false is thru reason and evidence.

There is no other way.

Faith in the truth is obviously a good thing. Faith in untruth is not a good thing.

Faith is a thing...your response to it makes it good or bad
