Why are people like this...?

Whenever I see a maid, janitor, etc. and they're cleaning up something like a large spill or toilet I always feel awful about it and try to do my best to refrain from doing anything to make their job harder. But my friends on the other hand just think it's their job to do that so it's okay. What's your opinion?

Your friends seem ignorant. Just because it's their job doesn't mean they like it. Maybe it's the only job they could get. Anything I can do to not make a mess that people will have to clean up I do. I hate when people have a lack of respect for people just because their job isn't "glamorous." Without janitors everything would be dirty.

I think that's their job to clean up after guests, but there are certain points that are really crossing the line, like ordering a maid to clean clothes or go to a store to pick something up. they're maids, they serve guests, they're not servants

I feel the same way you do. I try to clean my mess in public and whenever I see them cleaning I try to avoid the area.
