Would like for the plot 2 be huntable in the late muzzleloader season, so do I need something like turnups instead clover? Also would like your ideas on when 2 plant these plots.

I prefer a legume. If the soil is "sweet" and alfalfa will grow in your area, it obviously is by far the best choice. I planted 4 food plots this spring. They are a combination of 8 lbs ladino and 2 lbs of red clover per acre. It is about 1/2" high and I had one picture with a 8 deer on one plot that was about 3000 sq ft. I have planted turnips before and the deer did not touch them. But of course in the area that I live, there are a lot of soybeans and corn. If there are no grain crops in the area, turnips would probably work.
